I think in the late 90's it became the pesky little brother or sister to Hip Hop as we know it and now-a-days... it's just a 4th or 5th cousin you've never met. Better yet, it's the cousin that isn't really blood related but your grandmother keeps telling you that's your cousin JUST because ya'll from the same town- that's today's rap.
